Chinese (Mandarin) Language Study

Program Details

Information for Individuals
Study the (Mandarin) Chinese language at the Chinese Language Teaching Center. The courses are available at several levels, ranging from Basic Chinese to Advanced Chinese. Courses include a combination of: Oral Chinese, Listening Comprehension, Pronunciation Correcting, (Newspaper) Reading and Composition depending on the level of the course you are taking.

There are also a number of optional courses available, such as: HSK Test Preparation, Business Chinese, Chinese Idiom, Modern China, Chinese Culture, Folk Custom, Calligraphy and Poem Appreciation.

Information for Groups (Short Term Study)
Study the (Mandarin) Chinese language within a group at any desired level. The minimum number of participants of each Short Term Study group is 10 and will be divided into two classes if the number of participants exceeds 20. Courses are taught from 8:30 am to 11:30 am from Monday to Friday.

* The Tuition Fee does not include teaching material / books. These are available for purchase at the bookshop of the Chinese Language Teaching Center.

** The minimum number of participants of each Short Term Study Group is 10. If the number of participants is less than 10, the group will be charged as if the number of participants were 10.

Application Procedures & Materials

Individuals:

  1. Applicants should be between the age of 18 to 45.
  2. Applicants for Chinese study should complete the Communication University of China Application Form for Foreign Students and the Guarantee, then send them to Foreign Affairs Department of Communication University of China by fax before the deadline of registration.
  3. Pay the Registration Fee of 400 RMB per person by Bank Transfer.
  4. The students, who study at CUC must arrange accidental insurance and medical insurance.
  5. The Foreign Affairs Department shall respond within 30 days after receiving the application.
  6. Tuition Fee shall be paid (in RMB) upon arrival / final registration at the Foreign Affairs Department Office.
  7. Students need to hand in 6 passport-sized photos upon arrival / final registration at the Foreign Affairs Department Office.

Note: CUC will help students with visa application procedures and medical examination, only if students arrive during the registration period. Otherwise, students will need to handle this themselves (for this, see the Visa / Medical Information (PDF)).

Groups (Short Term Study):

  1. Applicants should be between the age of 18 to 45.
  2. To apply for Short Term Study contact the staff of the Foreign Affairs Department.
  3. The students, who study at CUC must arrange accidental insurance and medical insurance.
  4. The Foreign Affairs Department shall respond within 30 days after receiving the application.
  5. The Registration Fee of 200 RMB per person and the Tuition Fee shall be paid (in RMB) upon arrival / final registration at the Foreign Affairs Department Office.

Student Housing Information (optional)

Student Housing can be arranged upon arrival at the International Center.

Standard Double Room includes: common-decorated, furniture, washroom, shower, television set, telephone and air-condition. Luxurious Double Room includes: top-decorated, furniture, washroom, shower, television set, telephone and air-condition.

Optional

The Short Term Study program offers an optional 2-day sightseeing package, which includes the Forbidden City, Tian'anmen Square, the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace and the Great Wall. The price is 100 USD per person and includes transportation, tickets and entourage. If the number of participants is less than 10, the group will be charged as if the number of participants were 10.
